	POLLOKSHAWS FIRE STATION ...was set up in emergency conditions at the start of the Second World War, first in Sir John Maxwell School, then in buildings of a temporary nature erected on ground next to Wellgreen known as Craigie's Park (now Wellgreen Court). It was first occupied by the wartime AFS (Auxiliary Fire Service) and was designated Station No. 3CZ. After the war ended, for a time it was what became the National Fire Service. When the new station was opened at Pollok in the 1950s this one was closed. As an early car-identification enthusiast, the Morris 8hp, in the middle ground, was the first car the writer can remember seeing designed with headlights set within the front mudguards instead of as individual units on top.
